TwinBee Miracle ~The Mysterious Bell Continent~ (ツインビーミラクル 〜不思議なベルの大陸〜※発売中止 TsuinBī Mirakuru ~Fushigina Beru no Tairiku~※Hatsubai Chūshi ) is a canceled PlayStation role-playing game intended to be released in 1996. The game was being developed as part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the TwinBee series.
Plot[]
One day, Dr. Cinnamon received a distress signal from Paella, a continent located far west from Donburi Island. He sent the TwinBee Team to investigate, but they were struck by a storm just before arriving.
A boy named Mill rescued an unconscious Light and told him that Paella was being overrun by an unidentified troop of rampaging robots. He also told him that he saw them take TwinBee, Light's android friend and vehicle, to a nearby cave.
And so, both new friends set forth to try to solve the crisis on Paella.
Development[]
Information of the upcoming TwinBee Miracle role-playing game was published in various PlayStation gaming magazines from 1995, and the game itself was scheduled to be released in 1996. However, the game was ultimately canceled by the end of 1996 and many of its ideas and designs were retooled in what would eventually become TwinBee RPG, which was released in 1998.
Differences from TwinBee RPG[]
After its cancelation, the project for TwinBee Miracle evolved in what would eventually become the 1998 PlayStation role-playing video game TwinBee RPG. However, during this process many ideas and mechanics were changed:
- Miracle TwinBee was being developed as a sprite-based RPG, whereas the entire world and characters of TwinBee RPG ended up being modeled in 3D.
- The protagonist was going to be Light, while in TwinBee RPG the player takes control of an undisclosed-gendered protagonist.
- The adventure was going to take place in Paella, a continent far away from Donburi Island. In TwinBee RPG, the main adventure precisely takes place in the latter and the player is required to visit its many locations.
- Battles were gonna take place in real-time, while in TwinBee RPG they're strictly turn-based.
