Tokimeki Memorial (ときめきメモリアル Tokimeki Memoriaru , lit. "Heartbeat Memorial") is a dating sim video game developed and published by Konami. The first game in the Tokimeki Memorial series, it was first released for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM² system on May 27, 1994. It was directed by Yoshiaki Nagata, with Koji Igarashi working on scenario writing. It later received numerous ports to other consoles, such as the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Super Famicom, Game Boy Color, PlayStation Portable and mobile platforms under the name Tokimeki Memorial ~forever with you~.
A hidden game called TwinBee Returns can be unlocked in the original PC Engine CD version of the game, which is a simplified version of the original TwinBee video game from 1985, but following a "boss rush" format instead. This minigame was replaced with another one called TwinBee: Time Attack in the ~forever with you~ version, which also follows the same basic "boss rush" premise.
Pastel makes a cameo appearance as a plush doll along with some other iconic Konami characters, such as Maria Renard from the Castlevania series, Chichibinta Rika from the Parodius series, and Racheal from Martial Champion. Maria, Racheal and the other characters were later replaced by Madoka, Melora and Hikaru in Tokimeki Memorial ~forever with you~.
