Miki Itō (伊藤 美紀 Itō Miki) (born October 21, 1962) is a Japanese voice actress and narrator. She is currently affiliated with the Office Osawa agency. She is known for her work in Dragon Ball Z (1989), Dragon Ball: Hey! Son Goku and Friends Return!! (2008), and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (2013). Some of her most iconic voicing roles include Android 18, Taiga Fujimura, and Asa Shigure.
She has voiced several characters along the various media that comprise the TwinBee series, especially along the TwinBee PARADISE subseries. Her most prominent voicing roles include the green bumblebee android GwinBee, the genius toddler pilot Mint, and the diligent Doctor Peach, as well as other minor characters. She also voiced Omitsu in the OAV Ganbare Goemon: Jigen Jō no Akumu, where characters of the TwinBee series make a special appearance.
Career[]
Miki Hirano, better known by her acting name "Miki Itō", graduated from the University of Tsukuba. She began attending the Katsuta Voice Actor's Academy in her third year of college and made her debut as a voice actress in January 1985 with the OVA GREED, playing the role of Innocent B. The following year, the 1986 anime movie Project A-ko would mark her first starring role, playing the role of Eiko Magami. In the early 1990s, she transferred to the Office Osawa talent agency in order to work as a narrator, where she is still currently affiliated.
Her most representative works include Dragon Ball Z as Android 18 (among other characters), Maria-sama ga Miteru as Sachiko Ogasawara, Gintama as Peacock Princess Hua Tuo, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni as Miyo Takano, among others.
Since Maria-sama ga Miteru in 2004, her number of fans from younger generations has notably increased. In 2005, she played the main heroine in SHUFFLE! (as Asa Shigure), and in 2006, she played the first main character in the TV anime in Jang Geum's Dream (as Changum). In 1997, she played the first heroine in the animated film Hermes: Winds of the Wind (as Aphrodite).
She also has made overseas dubbing works, especially dubbing Cameron Diaz, whom she has been in charge since early works such as The Mask. Additionally, she is also in charge of narrating commercials and variety shows.
In December 2011, she joined the NPO "Voice and Future" chaired by Rikako Aikawa, where she is still active.
