Kazumi Tanaka (田中 和実 Tanaka Kazumi) (August 11, 1951 – December 20, 2007) was a Japanese actor and voice actor from Suginami, Tokyo, Japan. He was the younger brother of Ryouichi Tanaka and was affiliated with Aoni Production at the time of his death. He was best known for his roles in Dragon Ball Z (as Jeice), Galaxy Cyclone Braiger (as Khamen Khamen), Zawazawamori no Ganko-chan (as Banban and Scope Sensei) and Gekisou Sentai Carranger (as BB Donpa). He also served as the narrator for the NTV show The Wide.
On December 20, 2007, Kazumi died from pulmonary heart disease after a Kyōtei boat race at the age of 56.
He voiced the scientist and inventor Dr. Cinnamon along the various media that comprise the TwinBee series, having especial prominence along the TwinBee PARADISE subseries.
Career[]
After graduating from Tokyo Metropolitan Jindai High School and Tokyo Actor School, Mr. Tanaka joined the theater company Geikyo after working at the theater company Modern Theater. He made his debut in Friends, a play by Kobo Abe. As a voice actor, after working at the office center, he became affiliated with Aoni Production and made his debut in the role of Carmen Carmen in the anime Galaxy Cyclone Braiger in 1981. He was in charge of the narration for Nippon Television's The Wide.
He was known for his work in Akira (1988), Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004) and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (2005).
Death[]
On December 20, before the 31st performance of the theater company Geikyo Hanasaki Minato, Mr. Tanaka developed acute cor pulmonary on his way home from the Tamagawa Boat Racecourse and collapsed. He was taken to a hospital in Tama City, Tokyo, where he passed away (aged 56 years old). His last work was the role of Thomas in the anime Porphy no Nagai Tabi that was broadcast the following year (up to episode 5).
