Dr. Mardock's Ship is a miniboss in Pop'n TwinBee. It also appears in the Super Famicom version of Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius.

Description[]

A large flying vessel propelled by helicopter-like blades and powered by hard-working penguins.

Appearances[]

Pop'n TwinBee[]

A massive flying battleship that actually acts as the fourth stage's main battlefield, appropriately named "Aerial Battleship".

The level begins with the player flying above the clouds; not long after this, an ominous gigantic shadow will appear from underneath while a few enemies make the first attack. After a moment of fending them off, Dr. Mardock's Ship will emerge from beneath the clouds and begin a full frontal attack.

On its rear side, the battleship counts with two hatches from which it deploys kamikazeing Camouflas into the battlefield. Near its center, the ship features two large arrays of cannons affixed along its hull, one on each side; these can be destroyed individually with bombs. Further on, the ship's crew can be seen moping the deck, which can also be taken out with bombs.

After finally reaching the front of the ship, its hull will open and BaronBee, the miniboss of this level, will enter the battle in his first of many appearances throughout the game; the battleship will momentarily leave the scene while the battle ensues. After dealing with BaronBee, the ship will return for a final assault, deploying six large cannons which break out from the deck. Once they've been taken care of, the ship will leave for good this time, giving access to the main boss of the level.

Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius[]

Dr. Mardock's Ship makes a reappearance in this entry of the Parodius series, although unlike its first appearance in Pop'n TwinBee, where it appeared in a vertical scrolling stage, here it appears from a side-view and its dimensions are notably reduced (although still massive in size in comparison to the player).

The battleship will enter the screen from the top and start shooting projectiles at the player from the many cannons it has affixed on its hull. Shortly after its introduction, the ship will open a hatch on its underside from where BaronBee will join the battle (apparently falling by accident). Once he's defeated, the airship will go on its way and leave the screen.

This miniboss was replaced by Dr. Warumon's Flagship in the PSX/Saturn ports of the game.
