The Acorn Squad (どんぐり隊, Donguri-tai) is an army of little soldiers under command of a temporarily insane Dr. Mardock. They made their first and main appearance in the Super Nintendo game Pop'n TwinBee, where they serve as the main opposing force of the game.

Description

The Acorn Crew are small, almost featureless (or as much as one can do with an acorn) soldiers who blindly follow the orders of a temporarily insane Dr. Mardock. They boast a pirate crew-like thematic, wearing green bandanas on their heads and with the top part of their upside-down acorn bodies serving as a sort of short trousers, giving them an overall appearance of swashbuckling buccaneers. A taller individual acts as their leader; he wears a pirate captain's hat complete with a skull emblem embedded on it and a sleeveless long coat.

Proper to their pirate thematic, they can frequently be seen operating (or "sailing") the doctor's many ships and mechas the heroes must contend with.

After Mardock's insanity event, the crew apparently left their plundering ways and instead were employed as helpers to the Doctor in his laboratory and to Madoka at the Café Fantasian.

Other appearances

• Wai Wai Bingo (1993 - arcade): An Acorn Squad soldier makes an appearance as a bingo number, along with other Konami characters.
• TwinBee PARADISE in Donburi Shima (1998 - PC): A couple of the Acorn Squad members can be seen helping Madoka in the kitchen at the Café Fantasian coffee shop. Also, many of them can be seen waving flags at the start and finish lines in the TwinBee Jockey event.
